Bargain Shopping and Thrift Stores: The Basics Part 1

There are certain things a person needs to get through life: water, oxygen, deodorant.

While water and oxygen are (generally) free, the latter is going to cost you. So where do you get things like soap, shampoo and deodorant without breaking the bank?

Drugstores like Walgreens and CVS offer the widest selection at the best prices. For example, you can get a 3-pack of regular Dove bar soap for around $3 (that’s only $1 per bar) at either store. Shampoos like Herbal Essences and Head and Shoulders run between $2.50 and $4; toothpaste costs about $4 and specialty or brand name products like Clearasil, Noxema and Neutrogena generally cost between $3-$8, depending on the product and brand.
